TEACHERS DISSATISFIED. Per Press Association. Hasting, July .18. At a,meeting of the Napier brancli.of ? the Jlawla-'s Bay Education Institute this morning tlii- following resolutions ■> were carried: —(1) That this meeting express dissatisfaction with-the totally:} inadequate salaries provided in the Edu-■■..' cation Bill now before the House; (2). that tlii.-i meeting regrets exceedingly that the old basis of commutation salaries on average attendance has been retained in the new Bill, whereas teachers unanimously demanded a Dominion grading scheme of salary and promotion^";'■; : based on efficiency and service. Copies of the resolutions will be Bent to the Minister of Kduation, the mem-, hers of Parliament for Napier, Waipawa, and Hawke's Ray, and the New Zealand : Educational Institute. NEW PLYMOUTH OBJECTS. As a VttsMlt of the conference on Sat-, 'urday morning between-the wib-com-mittee- appointed by the Taranaki 1 Em- ' ployers' Association (Messrs C. E. Bukcr, U. Goodocre, and W. C. Weston), and His Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. E. WfJson) a public meeting has been eal- * led for this evening in the Town Hall, to discuss the proposal contained in the Education Bill now before the House to eliminate the Taranaki Education Board',:;: and. remove the head-quarters of the';;;, education district to Wanganui. A telegram has been forwarded to Mr. H'. Okey, M.P., asking him to attend, if .'"j : possible, and also asking him to arrange if possible, for the Hon. 0. Samuel, the - Hon. CarnprosK and Messrs J. B. Hirio and €. A. Wilkinson, M.P.'s to be pre-, sent. It is understood that the matter will ' .also he taken up by the North Taranaki School Committees' Association.
