Several hundred striking miners attacked the mine guard at Prairie Creek mines, Fort Smith. A pitched battle ensued, in which fire and dynamite Vfete used and destroyed the workings of three mines. Several were injured on both sides by rifle fusiladcs. The rioters held the mines for several hours, doing immense damage.
