EMPIRE PICTURE PALAOD.
Last night, ihe .management presented an entirely new programme of J£iupre Pictures, wuich was greeted wit'li a large audience, 'i'iie star picture was a 3000 ft. drama, entitled, "The bellow Jack.' The leading character was the famous aii'l j.opiiiiar screen detective. Keen, and th<- siury throughout is replete with tense sensation and high cfting puriui,-. embracing a wonderiui duiac in motors, traps, and on horses and 'bicycles. There is not a dull moment from beginning to end, and the photography was exceptionally line, inotiher excellent drama was "Big Bob Waits," a story of the wilds, which, sympathetic inend to an old couple, who (harbor a murderer in the belief that ho is their son. As a anatetr of fact, tflie son was shot by an impostor, who goes to bk victim's parents in his place to comfort them in their old age. There is plenty of scope for sympathetic traam.mt of the story, aaj. tfhe general opimw. was that ''Big Bob" did the right tiling when die decided to await the death of the, old couple before taking his man.! There was the w>ual "Wariel. Chronicle," full of interesting tit-bits from the wide world that gave Doth interest and- instrucjtjpn. "Va.eqiiia'tLng Mie !Vilftigei" was an extremely .funny production, that kept the audience in .roars of hearty laughter. '-Tli.' adventure of the Actl'date's Jewels" was another favorite, comedy. "Siir-ple Simon's Narrow Escape" concluded a splendid evening's entertainment, which will lie repeated to-night and to-morrow evening. Seats may bo reserved at the .Empire Theatre.
EAST END MERRY-MAKERS.
Residents of Tarurutangi arc promised a treat to-night, when the East End Merry-makers will give an entertainment in the local hall. The latest songs and dances will be given, introducing the "bon ton," "la rinka," etc. The entertainment will be followed by a dance.
THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES.
Last night's change of programme at the Theatre Royal Pictures brought before the good audience many films -of (great interest. "Threads of Destiny," a big circus drama, was the chief attraction, and proved a fine story, with exciting situations right through the narrative. The big camp film showed our Territorials in their camp life, and besides the more serious nature of the work, some humor was introduced which kept the audience in roars of laughter. Several other fine subjects are presented, and these prove a fine evening's entertainment. To-night will be the last opportunity of seeing this collection .
EMPIRE PICTURES.
A eomplete change of programme wii! be presented at the Empire Picture Palace this evening, containing a Celio star feature, entitled, "The Yellow Jack," a very exciting detective drama, 3000 ft ia length. The supporting films include: '•While Big Bob Waits" (drama), "The Adventure of an Actress' Jewels" (comedy), "Vaccinating the Village" (comedy), and a host of others. Seats reserved at the Empire, Is and Is fid.
