WAREA. (From our Own Correspondent.) Th« Warea ladies' ball on Wednesday evening was one of the most successful functions that lias been held in tlie district for a number of years, and t!ie general arrangements made reflect the greatest credit oil the energetic committee of ladies responsible. To them the coastal dancers owe a debt of gratitude. The weather was fine, fortunately, in tin! early part of the evening. Sirs. George's orchestra was responsible for delightful music, and Messrs J. A. Clarke and A. K. riadler were M's.C. The latest craze, in this district is for pulling on a rope, and there are tugs-of-war on two or three nig'hts a week. A local team of live is matched> against a Pungarehu quintette for the 22iul inst., and our three lightweights (9 stone) are ready to uphold Warea against th;: world. WAITARA ROAD. The first of the season euchre parties was held in the new Huirangi hall last Wednesday evening, sixteen tallies being occupied. Out of fourteen games played Mr. J. Fay won 1.1. Mr. K. Richards was second and Mr. W. Stone third. MMa McOoll won the lady's prize with ten games, Miss T,. Smith second, and Mrs) ]'. Wells third. After supper, Mr. Louis Andrews presented the prizes, and thanked the Waitara gentlemen for the handsome prizes donated. Dancing was indulged in till 1.30 a.m.. the music being provided by, Mr. 0. Smith (cornet) and Miss Carr (piano) j Mr. 'Louis Andrew acted as M.C. ' ' I
