I PROTESTS IN INDIA. PATRIOTISM IMPOSSIBLE. Received 12, 5.5 p.m. Calcutta, July 11. A series of. meetings has been inaugurated nndcr the auspices of tihe Indian Association, to assert the rights of Indians as British subjects. One speaker declared that the colonies had declared war against the Indians, and it was impossible for the latter to be patriotic citizens of the Empire. He said that the India Council Bill was rejected in the House of Lords because the inclusion of Indians on the Council would be an eyesore to English people.
