For a considerable time pa s t the Government ha* been urged to acquire tho Balfour estate of three thousand acres near the town of Pahiatua. The Premier has now advised Mr. Eseott, M.P., that the Land Purchase Board recently took steps to acquire the estate under section 64 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1013, and had accordingly (served a notice on the Hon.
