ANNUAL UEKTING OF INRTITfTE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunodin, Last Nsjjlit. The annual conference of the exceative council of the New Zealand Railway Officers' Institute commenced this morning, the president (Mr. J. Young) being in tlie chair. A satisfactory report was presented, showing that the membership of the Institute was now over two thousand. The revenue from subscriptions was £954 1,3s 3d, showing an increase for the year of £l7l 14s lid. due largeh ■ to the increase in members' subscriptions. Tlie extra income will he used to build up a reserve fund. Tlie balance earned forward is .COO 5. which is £OB less than last, year, the decrease being due to extraordinary expenditure. The report continues: "Your committee are pleased to be able to report that the Minister and management met the Institute's representatives in a fair and reasonable way, and the thanks of the whole of the members of the first division of the service are due to Mr. llerriea for giving full effect to the promises he made in 1912. and repeated to the executive council in 1A13." Tlie report and balance-sheet were adopted, and technical matters affecting the Institute were discussed. The conference will he continued to-morrow.
