MOVING A LIQUOR LICENSE.
AN UNUSUAL DECISION. • Per Press Association. Greymouth, Last Night. The transfer of a liquor license for a distance of 66 miles was successfully accomplished yesferday, when .the application of A. O'Donnell for an accommodation license at Waiuta. at the Blackwater mine, was granted by the Westland Licensing Committee. The modus operandi was to allow the old Humphreys' Gullyt Hotel license for premises about ten miles from Hokitika to lapse, thereby making an apparent opening. The police and C. Wagstaff; of Waiuta, strongly objected, aand although .the Magistrate (as chairman) and one other member of the committee opposed the application as illegal, the majority of the committee decided to grant the license.
