MR G. P. DONNELLY'S RESIDENCE By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, Last Night.
A di-ar-trous ('re occurred about 7.30 this evening, when .Mr (!. I*. Donnch'y's fine residen.-, "Otatura," at Tarada'le, at eighteen-r domed building, was completely destroyed. Mr Donnelly and his .sister Mr., Ho.ullcy, were at dinner at the time the outbreak of fire was discovered by a maid in an up-tair* bedroom. Some valuable pictures and a few articles of furniture were saved, hut a large quantity of valuable furniture wa- destroyed The cause of the fire was cither a defective chimney or rati Three-quartrrs of an hour after the outbreak was di-covcred the strtng room was the only portion of the building left standing." It is bdjeved that the latter, which contains valuable papers, is intact. The hou-c and contents were in urcd in the Commercial Union office, but tlie amount is not ascertainable at present. ,
