UNIONISTS' DILEMMA.
THE HELPJNG HAND SCHEME.

Owing to the recent decision of the Supreme Court in the Wellineton Typographical Uni.-n's case, local unionists are at present considerably perturbel ever the question as to whether they can legally contribute from their own union funds to the funds of other unions engage,! in other Industrie.-. About a fortnight ago Mr R. A. Simpson, secretary of the Wellington Storemen's Union, received an invitation from the Auckland Storcnien'a Union tj go up there and assist in the furtliiev organisation of the union, so that it might, put up a better light, against the employers. I'nor. receipt of the invitation, Mr Simpson appealed t'> the Wellington city i.nions for financial a*istr.nee to enable him to proceed to Auckland. In the light of the Supreme Court decision a good many of the Wellington unions have been doubtful on the question o' contribution but the Wellington hraneli of the Federated Seamen's Union had no qualms on that score, and to-day Mr W. T. Young, the secretary, handed Mr Simjwon a cheque for £o to be used solely for the purpose of organising storemen generally throughout the country.
