COMMERCIAL.

DAIRY PRODUCE RETORT. Messrs K. Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals (Messrs Mills and Sparrow), dated, London, 22ud May, 1914. Butter—With the considerable shrinkage in the supplies of Siberian, there has been a little more attention paid to other descriptions, and the market generally is steady. The weather during the past three weeks lias been dry, and with the. brilliant sunshine during the past seven days, pastures are not making that progress which is usual at this season of the year, and in several districts rain is badly wanted.

Danish.—There is sufficient demand for the supply available, and quotations re main unchanged.

Australian.—There is an excellent demand for best grades, but secondary goods arc difficult to sell at our quotations.

New Zealand.—There has been an improved demand for choice grades, and quotations are slightly firmer.

Colonial arrivals this week are: Butter, ''Nairnshire" (Avonmouth) 3,500 boxes New Zealand; cheese, "Matatua,'' (London), 7,500 crates New Zealand; "Nairnhsire," (Avonmouth), 5.475 crates New Zealand.

1 Siberian.—Only 30fh> casks arrived in London this week; this was caused by the Easter holidays in Siberia, and delays in transit three or four weeks ago owing to the hreak up of the frosts, and consequent floods. Prices have improved about 2s on the. week. Irish. —Supplies continue to increase, with a good demand. French.—Although supplies are steadily increasing, there is considerable apprehension about the dry weather which is being experienced, and the make is not increasing as fast as usual. 'Cheese.--- New Zealand: There lias been a steady demand throughout the week, hut values have v cased slightly. It seems impossible to atop the downward trend of value, and with Canadian offering at s!>s, . 60s, for prompt shipment, higher prices cannot be made at the moment. There is, however, considerable talk of dry weather in Canada, and we. understand that the May make shows a very considerable decrease in comparison with last year.
