Liner Ashore
WRECKED DURING A FOG. ON THE IRISH COAST. A THOUSAND PASSENGERS SAFELY LANDED.

The liner California, bound from New York to Glasgow, went ashore during a fog at Tory Island (Ireland). The 1010 passengers were landed safely. Several destroyers and steamers responded to the wireless calls.
THREE LANDING FATALITIES. Received 1, 12.30 a.m. London, June 30. The California ran into a dense fog, and missed her course. She struck on • ' e rocks, and the bottom was stripped ' c.n foremast forward. The vessel is unlikely to be salved. A man, a woman and a child were killed duritag the landing. The islanders built huge bonfires, guiding the passengers ashore.
The California is a 7'57'2-ton boat -built in 1894. She has a speed of 19 knots and is owned by the P. and 0. Company.
