Polar Explorers

THE ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION.

SIR ERNEST SIIAOKLETON'S PRO GRAMME.

By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, June 29.

Sir E. Shackleton has invited Mr. Ernest Joyce to join the forthcoming expedition. In a letter, he states that lie proposes to direct the expedition in two sections—the Weddcll Sea section and the Ross Sea section. The party to the Weddcll Sea will include the trans-continental party, and the Ross Sea section will consist of six men to lay a depot at the foot of the Beardmore glacier for the trans-continental party. Possibly a party will winter at Cape Evans, but this programme will only be adopted if sufficient money is forthcoming, otherwise there will only be the Weddell Sea ship and one small party for the trans-continental journey.
