The latter reiterated their demand that the Prince must abdicate. They were willing to negotiate on secondary points. They did not intend to attack Durazzo, •owing to the presence of foreigners, but were determined not to abandon their "arms. The insurgents' insistence upon a, Mohammedan sovereign is regarded as blocking the way to peace.
