GaWe—Press Association—Copyright Received 29, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, June 29. £ disastrous railway smash was narrowly averted by the promptness of -Guard Godding. A crowded suburban -train was blocked at the bend at HomeIrasli. Godding heard a densely-packed race train approaching, warned the passengers to jump out, and ran back and stopped the oncoming train in the ■nick of time. Many hundreds were en--dangered.
