MINERS FIRED ON BY THE POLICE. A BATTLE RAGING. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright Received 25, 12.15 a.m. New York, June 24. A crowd marched on the Miners' Union Hall at Butte, where the president of the Western Federation of Minei'B was to outline his peace plan. The crowd was fired on by the sheriff's deputies, three men being shot. One was killed and another is believed to be fatally wounded.

A battle is raging on Union Hill. The insurgent miners are firing from tlie top of buildings.

Armed men proceeded to the Stewart mine, and boldly carried boxes of dynamite, but tlie guns of the deputies prevented them placing an effective charge. Two heavy explosions occurred. The crowds when attempting to dynamite the miners' hall blew the front out of the hall.
