ATTACK ON UNSUSPECTING SHOPMAN.

' A liian entered the shop of Metz, ; pawnbroker, in the city this morning i and asked to see a brooch. While Metz (was picking a brooch out of the window, the man dealt liim four severe blows on the head with a steel spanner. He tailed to stun the victim, so he dropped the spanner, strolled into the street, and walked quietly away. Metz staggered out and called to people tp stop his assailant, which was done, and an arrest effected. Metz received three scalp wounds and a nasty cut between the eyes. He received medical attention at once. Nothing was taken from the Bhop. It is believed his assailant is an Australian criminal. -
