COMPREHENSIVE SCHEME OP IMPROVEMENT.

The largest and most comprehensive railway scheme for improving traffic and shipping facilities in the harbor over submitted to the Government has been outlined for the Ministers, who inspected the whole route of the proposed scheme.

A railway will feed all the foreshores • of the harbor, and enable the Harbor Trust to 'build wharf accommodation from Darling Harbor to the western side of Balmain. ' It is intended to carry ft railway round the foreshores from Roeello Bay to the Glebe Island wharves, where the whole of the wheat shipping Will be carried, out. When completed, the scheme will make Balmain the greatest shipping suburb. - Its extensive waterfront and numerous bays will give accommodation for fleets of ships when the wharves are erected.

The Ministers reviewed the scheme, and agreed that it was a huge undertaking, but that the growth of shipping demanded immediate attention. Nothing but a bold and comprehensive Boheme would suffice. % :
