HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.

(Note.—Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on' spot). Mutton.—The market is quiet, but there is no reduction in prices. Canterbury 4%d for light weights, heavy weights 3%d, North Island' 4%d for light weights. Lamb.— demand, especially for heavy weights. Prices have slightly declined for all grades, as the result heavy arrivals during the week. Canterbury fiVid, heavy weights, 5%d, other than Canterbury 6 3-lGd for best quality light weights (in small supply). Beef.—The market is depressed. Quotations for New Zealand beef arc nominal. Supplies of American chilled beef are large. New Zealand hinds, 4%d, fores, 3%d, chilled hinds 5(1, fores, 3'/ B d. Butter.—There has been no alteration in the market since last week. Danish, steady, 115s to Ll7s; New Zealand, quiet, 108s to bids; Australian, 100s to 103s; Siberian, fair demand, 98s to 102s; Irisn creamery, lOlis to 110s. Cheese. —The market is quiet. Canadian old make, quiet, GBs to 70s; new make, quiet, white, 02s to 03s, colored, 03s to 043, New Zealand, quiet, white, 04s to Gas. colored, 05s to 00s. Hemp.—The market continues dull, The nianila market declined for forward shipment more than for near positions. Fair current £25, October to December shipments, £25 10s. The output from Manila for the week was 21,000 bales. The New Zealand market is quiet and prices slightly yeaker, There have been only a few small sales at second hand on the 'basis of June to August shipments at fair £23 ss, good fair £2O. Sjpot good fair £26 10s, fair £23. These quotations are nominal. 'Sisal.—The market is quiet and steady. New York quotations, 5% cents, equal to £25 12s Od per ton c.if. Europe. Tow.—The market is quiet; second grade £l3 ss, third, £lB 10s. Hops—The market is quiet, with less irquiry. English, 115s to 1325; Continental, 95s to 200s; Oalifornian, 75s to 955; New Zealand, tWs. Wool.—The market is quiet but firm.
