THE LATE COL. BLOOMFIELD
REGRET OF THE REFORM PARTY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Premier paid a tribute to the late Colonel Bloomfield at to-day's meeting of the Political Reform League. The annual report stated that the League deplored the loss sustained hy the lamented demise of Colonel W. R. Bloomfield under such distressing circumstances. Colonel Bloomfield had taken an active part in the establishment of the Reform Club, and for some time, acted as chairman of the House Committee. His /wiso judgment and his kindly presence would ibe much missed, not only at meetings of the committee, but in -all departments of activity. Mr. Masscy also referred to the serious loss which had been sustained by the" Reform Party, as well as Iby the community as a whole, by the death of Colonel Bloomfield, and proposed a resolution of (sympathy with the relatives of the deceased gentleman. He mentioned that Colonel Bloomfield was a lifelong friend of his. fn" fact, they had worked together in political matters long before he (the Premier) went to Parliament. Their chairman (Mr. Matthew Clark), Mr Craves Aickin, Colonel Bloomfield and others had been associated in politics iii the early years, and the first of this early band to pass away, he regretted to say, had been Colonel Bloomfield. The resolution was carried by the conference standing.
