A trial of a new system of disarming barricaded persons proved a success in the case of a mad woman shooting with a revolver at all who approached her flat. Two policemen, armed with steel cuirasses and shields and firemen's smoke helmets, discharged fumes .from the muzzle of a pistol thrust in a hole in the door. The woman was removed unconscious, and taxen to an asylum.
