By Telegraph—Press Associat. a. ■..< Dunedin Last Night There is reason to fear that a Port. ■ - Chalmers fisherman named George Shirley lost his life this afternoon whilst attempting to make tihe port through, -._, the heavy sea which rolled across liarbor entrance. Shirley had been out on the fiahing grounds during the early part of the day, apparently by himself in the launch Dapgne, and when nearing the heads hia boat was seen .by Pilot Duncan to capsize in the 'breakers, and he immediately summoned the boat's crew <and set out in the pilot launch to \- render assistance. On reaching; the vie- -. inity, however, nothing couM be seen _ of the man or his boat. A little after the ,tug Plucky went out to search, but all to be seen was a pair of oara, a fishing line, and a cask; Bhirlcy wm about 27 years oi age, and it is under- . stood that his relatives reside at 1 Dunback.
