After a lengthy summing-up by the "Chief Justice in the action brought by Gwendoline Browne against J. A. Bridge, -claiming £2OOO compensation for alleged libel and assault, the jury found that the defendant was not actuated by malice in , writing the letter complained of, or by personal feeling against the plaintilT, or with the object of asserting the power •of the directors to dismiss employees -without Morath's consent, regardless of Jhe plaintiff. On the second count, as to whether the defendant used unneccs- ■ «kry violence in removing Browne from •the premises, the jury found in the affirmative, and awarded the plaintiff £-50 rilgmages. The Chief Justice refused an •application to stay proceedings.
