DOCTORS AT THE SCHOOLS. PAHENTS FIND FRESH BUEDENS. Per Press Association. ■ Masterton, Saturday.
At the meeting of the Masterton School Committee last night, ,«iome. discussion took place in regard to the medical inspection of children attending schools.
■The chairman (Mr. B. Brown) reported that he Iliad brought the matter under the notice of the Hon. James Allen (Minister for Education) during the visit to Masterton, and the Minister had .requested that suggestions should be forwarded to him; in connection with the carrying out of the recommendations made by the medical officer by thoflc parents who were not in a good financial position. Mr. Brown expressed the opinion to the meeting that with proper safeguards attendance could be given to children at the public hospitals and representations might be made to the Government in this direction. Those parents who were not in a position to carry out the recommendations of the inspecting doctor could make application to the school! eommittees in their district, and Mr. Brown tlhought that (those committiw-s who were in a position to do so might pay a small annual fee in connection with any ease tlmy may recommend for treat went, at the' hospital. Tn order that abuses should r.ot creep in, Mr. Brown suggested that children sent ta the hospital for treatment .-Jiould first obtain a certificate fr»m the school committee.
