~ _,' Marton, Monday. Mr Fred. Piiani, Reform candidate for Wanganui, met with a serious accident this morning. While motor-" cycling through to Wanganui to address a Reform League .meeting, Mr. lirani met a mob of sheep near Bonny Wen, four miles from Marton. He had passed through them safely when a sheep doubled back and struck the cycle, which canted over on to thp rider's right leg, causing a compound fracture between the knee and ankle. • TRAMLINE FATALITY. , T , Dunedin, Monday. Norali MeSweeney, the elderly woman who slipped while stepping off a moving tramear on Saturday, fracturing her skull, died in the hospital this morning without regaining consciousness.

A PECULIAR ACCIDENT. Invercargill, Last Night. A peculiar accident happened at Larmond's sawmill, near Tuatapere, on Friday, when a young man named Bennett was seriously injured. He was struck [ in tile neck by a board wliioh flew from one of the circular saws, cutting his throat almost from ear to ear. Dr. Trotter, of Riverton, was at once sent for, and he put in a number of stitches, and made the patient as comfortable as possible utnil he could be sent down by train to the Rivertpn hospital the next day.

BODY FOUND. Napier, Midnight. The liody of a man named Edward Coghlan, aged 33, who was missing for several days, was found in a creek on the Clifton station, near Clive, yesterday morning.

ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. Napier, Midnight. A man named Thomas W. Boyd, said to have recently arrived from the South Island, shot himself behind the ear in Tennyson street to-night, and was removed to the hospital in a serious condition.
