In the Scottish championship Miss Anderson defeated Miss Frances, a teacher, at the 20th hole. In the open golf championship, which is being played at Troon, scores of 163 qualified. NEW WAMOUTH CLUB. The monthly competition for the St. Andrew's Gross was played on. Saturday afternoon in a strong southerly wind, which made good sewing difficult. The match resulted in a between C. Austin and D. E. Hutton, with scores of 83. The six best cards returned were: C. H. Burgess 98 (hep. 16) 83; D. Hutclicn 09 (16) 83; J. Austin 109 (24) 85; D. E. Hutton 111 (26) 85; F. S. Johns 93 (0) 87; P. D. McCard 94 (8) 89. The play-off of the tie for the Nga Motu trophy between P. D. McCord and F. S. Johns resulted in the latter winning, and the trophy now becomes his property, he having won it three times at interval.

TABAHUA CLUB. A men's medal match for the St. Andrew's Cross was played on Saturday. The following are the three best cards: Ag. Hep. Tl. J. Montgomerie 118 18 100 W. G. Douglas 108 8 100 W. Berridge 110 8 102 The play-off will take place on Saturday next.

WITIORA CLUB. A handicap bogey match was played on the Witiora links on Saturday. Mackay won, being 1 down on bogey, McQuade 2 down, Elliot 4 down, Sole 4 down, and Buxton 4 down.
