The Government will not resign, considering the sacrifice of the session's labors detrimental to the country's interests.
General Botha, in the Assembly, said that though defeated on, a question of detail, the Government attached no importance to that, but unless it received fuller support in future it would not be justified in remaining in office. Speaking on the motion which led to the Parliamentary crisis, Mr. Smith contended that a 00 per cent, share in the Premier Mine was equivalent to a 15 per cent, profit 'tax. Parliament was not free to impose further taxation. The Laborites, Hcrtzogovites and ten Ministerialists voted with the majority.
