Speaking on the motion which led to the Parliamentary crisis, Mr. Smith contended that a 00 per cent, share in the Premier Mine was equivalent to a 15 per cent, profit 'tax. Parliament was not free to impose further taxation. The Laborites, Hcrtzogovites and ten Ministerialists voted with the majority.
