The death occurred last week of Mr Vi'illiam, Cook, a mucu-respeeted settler h the Makara district (Wellington). According to private advice received in Sydney, Sir Thomas Lipton has intimated his contemplation of a trip to Australia ana New Zealand next year. The Rev. W. Raine, curate of St, Peter's Church, has been appointed vicar of Foxton, in succession to the Rev. Woodward, recenwy appointed vicar of Ka.rori.
