PROSPERITY TO TARANAKI.
Sir,—May I add my congratulations to yours at the arrival of the Walkure at Moturoa, making the beginning of direct service between our port and the Old World? May it indeed be a new era tor tile whole of Taranaki. With a Government giving us roads and bridges and a railway, and also opening up fresh markets for our produce, not Taranaki alone but tli; whole Dominion is on an era of prosperity. Mr. N. King reserves well of the farmers. Hay ] le g 0 on and piosper! To our ottier leading merchants I would say, "Go thou and do likewise All those who have denied the utility of our harbor should visit the port and see for themselves lioiv a hi" slii]) can lie safely there. "Thirtv feet ir, the fairway, and 4-1 in the basin" makes good reading. So we all say with gladness: Prosperity to Taranaki--I am, etc., JAMES SMITH.
