NEW PLYMOUTH. Mr. and Miss Percy Smith, who have been on a prolonged visit to England, have returned to New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Collier; who are at present residing in Wanganui, arc on a short visit to New Plymouth. Mrs. Harding, Fielding, is the gueat of Mrs. A. H. Colvile.
Miss Devenish, who has been on a visit to Bulls, has returned. Miss Dwynwyn Cole, Auckland, is the [guest of Mrs. Mathews, Fitzroy. Mrs. Paul, who has been on a visit to Wellington, returns by the mail train to-night. Mrs. Glenn, Hawera, who has been on I a,visit.to Australia, has returned. Mrs. Dickson (Patea), who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. C. A. Curtis, New Plymouth, lias returned. Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Curtis left last Tuesday for Auckland en route to the South Island.
Miss Williams, Christdiurch, is on a visit to New Plymouth. Mrs. Chancy (sour.), entertained a number of young people at a gramaphone evening last Thursday, after which a dainty snp'por was served. Amongst those present were:—Mrs. J. Glenn, Misses B. Evans, J. Crooke, D. Ray, 0. Shaw, D. Tripe, and Bedford (2). Mrs. G. Xeal, as president of a committee of ladies interested in the crcctipn of an Anglican Sunday School at Vogeltown, requests the pleasure of tlie ladies of St. Mary's parish, and their friends, at a gift afternoon, which is to be held at Mrs. Neil's residence next Thursday, June 18. Gifts of material or goods of any kind will be gladly received, and if any of the ladies are unable to attend, would they kindly forward any of thes-e tilings. Last Tuesday, Mrs. S. Teed gave a very enjoyable bridge party, and the prizes were won by Mrs. W. Newman (fust), Mrs. Foote (hidden number) and Miss A.' llenipton (consolation). Amongst those present were: —Mesdames Teed. Gilmour, S. Rennell, Foote, Curtis, Wilson, Re.na;u<l, Alexander, Hutch en, Moves, Stocker, Hirst, A. Fookes, Elliott, Flower. Dickson, Hall and Misses Godfrey and Rennell.
AGRICULTURAL SHOW. The Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society held their fifth nnrmat show in tlie Coronation Hall, which was opened last Wednesday, and will, lie continued until Saturday evening. During the season I noticed:— Mrs. J. Paton, who was robed in a navy coat and skirt, hat to correspond. Mrs. Flower wore.' a brown costume, hat masked with shaded flowers. Mrs. C. Xeal was robed in a navy costume, hat relieved with pale bine feathers. Mrs. McLeod wore a fawn costume, black velvet hat, with violet colored mount. Mrs. Ruxtou was attired in a navy costume, witli violet hat. Mrs. Johnstone, fawn costume, faced with Oriental trimming, white sailor 'hat. Mrs. Kirby wore? a black and white check costume, violet hat. I Miss Hawke was robed in a golden I brown costume, white, hat. with ribbon I bows.
Miss Roberts wore a navy costume, rubv colored velvet hat. Mrs. S. Rc.imett was attired in a black and white costume, cerise colored hat. Mrs. Hooker wore a black costume faced with floral silk, black feathered hat. ■Mrs. Chaney wore a navy blue costume, bat to correspond. Miss Kirkb,- was robed in a smart navy coat and skirt, violet hat. Mrs. Fair wore a light brown cloth c- ::t and skirt, black hat with white wings. Miss Jones was rolled in a black satin coat and skirt, black feathered hat. Mrs. Wood wore a navy costume, | black velvet hat. Miss Cant was robed in a black cloth costume, violet hat. Mrs. Rossiter (senr.) wore a grey costume. black hat, wreathed with pansics. Miss V. Kirkbv was rolled in a fawn coat and skirt, black hat. Miss Collis wore a brown costume, with scarlet coat, brown bat to corvespond. Mrs. Dell was attired in a black and white striped costume, black and white liat. Mrs. Lawson wore a grey costume, white hat with ribbon bows. Mrs. Rossiter (junr.) wore a navy coat and skirt, black velvet hat. Mcsdames McKellar, Webster. Stan-di.-h, !tr<>\vsi (I.
