. OPPOSITION CONDUCTING A STONEWALL. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, June 12. On a motion to go into committee, tho Treasurer made a statement indicating that the financial year would end with a surplus ol £824,305. The Opposition resumed the stonewall with the view of forcing Mr. Cook to make a further statement regarding tho advice he tendered to Sir R. MunroFcrguson. The debate was adjourned and will probably go over to next week. The Senate passed the third reading of the Referenda Bill.
AN IMPASSE REACHED. Melbourne. June 12. A conference of the Federal parties failed to reach an agreement regarding the conduct of business. It is understood that an arrangement has been made whereby the dissolution will jc proclaimed on July 20 and the elections held, if possible, on September 5. Strenuous efforts are being made to complete the rolls. THE DEBATE ADJOURNED. Received 12, 12.10 p.m. Melbourne, June 12. The Supply debate was adjourned till Wednesday. It is anticipated that the session will close at the end of the week.
