MAPPING OUT THE WORK. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The first meeting of the Board of \griculture constituted under the Act 'Hissed last session whs held to-day.

Mr. 'Massey attended and practically is id down a programme for the Board's ictivities, mentioning noxious weeds, training of young farmers, forestry, cav•iage of produce, improvement of permanent pasture, shortage of farm labor, .mportaticn of stock, meat trust, fruit ndustry, discovery of phosphates and ibtaining a cheap supply. The Board passed a motk.n of regret it the death of the late D. t). MacFarane.

In the afternoon the Board considered details of its future work. As the members are likely to be in Wellington at the time of the A. and P. Conference ill duly, another meeting of the Board will lie held after that conference takes place. A committee was appointed to confer with the Board of Governors of Lincoln College, for the purpose of ascertaining if the two bodies can work together in the interests of rural education.

It was decided that at its meeting the Board would go particularly into the question of organisation of the Department of Agriculture, and to confer with the heads' of the various branches of the Department. Further, the question of forestry will he discussed with Mr. MiKonzie. who is in charge of that work, and the question of rural education will be gone into with Mr. G. Hogben, Inspector-General of Schools. Before its next meeting the Board hopes to pay a visit of inspection to the various State Experimental Farms, so that these institutions may be discussed.
