MR. C. E. GAUSTAD'S SEED STORE. (From Our Own Correspondent). Recognising that with the improvements of the harboi' and regular shipping facilities Waitara has a great future in front of it, Mr. 0. E. Gaustad has just had erected a substantial building in a central position on West Quay, Wailara, for use as a seed, grain, manure and produce store. The building, which is of reinforced k' rro-cuHereto, is 30ft by 72ft. The front portion (3flft by 30ft) is divided into two compartments, one portion being iitted up for use by the Dank of Australasia, and the other being utilised by Mr Gait-tad as a showroom and olliee. The interior is beautifully plastered in white, the partitions being "l'iolite" (asbestos). The back portion i,.> utilisK'di Uw a bulk istore. To celebrate the opening of the building, Mr. Gaustad adopted the expedient of ■arranging a show of agricultural produce, open to all-comers, entrance being free and good prizes offered. This was opened in the building on Thursday, and proved a great success. Despite the short notice, there was great interest taken in the event, and sonic sixty-four entries were received, and these were displayed in the bulk store. The front portion was devoted to a display from Mt. Ganslad's own farm, 'consisting of ■turnips, mangolds, swedes, carrots, parsnips, cabbages, etc., relieved by shrubs, etc., from Mr. Hicks' Tikorangi nursery. The whole made a good display and is well worthy of exhibiting in the Winter Show at New Plymouth. The judges were Messrs Gardiner, Katteiilmry and G. V. Tate, and their awards were as follows:

After the judging, and prior to the doors being opened to the general public, Mr. Gaustad ma-ie a short speech, in which he referred to his faith in the great future of the district, and the fact that as a farmer he had known the inconvenience of not heing able to obtain farm seeds and such like nearer than New Plymouth. He thanked all those who had come forward to assist him.

Mr. G. V. Tnte expressed the opinion thnt this would fill a long-felt want.
