Om Saturday afternoon ait Port Gmlmors, the Prime Minister unveiled a cairn erected to the memory of Captain Scott and his eoanpanionß, In unveiling tho cairn the Prime Minister made a brief but eloquent speech. The efforts of Captain Scott and his companions had wot, he said, been in vain, for siMhtough vhey htu not attained the goal which (they ©ought, yet their heroic deaths were a reminder of the heritage of courage and heroism which .the British ipeople possessed. The Mayor of Porfc Chalmers and the Hon. James Allen aJiso spoke, tfe latter as representative of the land defence, with seeial reference to Captain Oates.
