SUPREME COURT.

WAXGANUI SESSIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association.' Watganui, Tuesday. At tlfe Supreme Court, W. P. Gardner, of Taihape, charged with failing to keep proper books three years before his bankruptcy, was found not guilty. Wanganui, Last Night. At the Supreme Court the jury disagreed in the ease against Bruen, charged with carnally knowing a girl. A new trial was ordered. John McGregor was found guilty oi common assault. Sentence will be passed to-morrow.

AUCKLAND CRIMINAL SESSIONS.

Auckland, Last Night. At the Supreme Court, a no bill was returned in the ease of tramway motorman George Frederick Keclos, charged with manslaughter. The Grand Jury was of opinion 'that there was nothing to indicate that the motorman had not taken all reasonable precautions at the time of the accident.

George John Burberry, alias FrederickGeorge Smith, pleaded guilty to charges of theft of a watch, wateh-i-hain, pendant and sovereign case. It was ascertained that accused had been declared to lie an habitual criminal on April 0 His Honor therefore intimated tliat there was no necessity for him to further add to the penalty. . Accused was sentenced to a term of six months' imprisonment, with hard labor, to take effect from April G, and to jnn concurrently with the present sentence. John Cecil Mercer, who had been remanded from Duiieilhf, where ho was serving a sentence, pleaded guilty to a charge made against Oiim in respect of a stolen Savings Bank book. It was explained that, he was serving a sentence of six months' imprisonment in Dunodin, where he had uttered a cheque. He had gone to Dunodin after committing the offence in Auckland. His Honor remarked that prisoner Would be sentenced to a term of six months' imprisonment, with hard labor, to be followed by a period of three years' reformative treatment, the sentence to be concurrent with tlie one he was. already sewing.
