OPTIMISTIC MINISTERS.
PREMIER AND FINANCE MINISTER IN CHRISTCHURCII. RETICENT REGARDING ELECTORAL REFORM. By Telegraph—Cross Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Right Hon. W. F. Massey and the Hon. James Allen went south by the first express to-day. Interviewed by a reporter, Mr. Massey was optimistic regarding the prospects of the Government in both Islands at the forthcoming election. He spoke of the new Land Commission to deal with Wostland and other ma Iters, but was reticent with regard to electoral reform. lie. stated, however, that the Bill was now in course of preparation, and had yet 10. come before Cabinet. The Meat Trust would, he said, be carefully watched, and if its operations were injuiiou.- to New Zealand products the Government would ritep ill. Mi. Allen said he was satisfied with the financial prospects of the Dominion. Mr. Myers' four and a-half millions loan became payable in July, but preparations had already been made to meet it.
