OLD MAN'S SUICIDE. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright Christchurch, Monday. Yesterday William Thompson,' aged 75, an unmarried man, committed suicide at Rangiora by banging himself from a rafter. At the inquest a verdict was returned of suicide while temporarily insane. BURNT TO DEATH. Carterton, Monday. James Andrews, an old man, was burnt to death at Martinborough yesterday. >He was living with. John Lyons, also an old man. The Hatter went out early yesterday morning and when lie returned the 'hut was in flames. He tried to pull Andrews out, but was unable to do so ou account of the flames.

The body has not been recovered. DEATH BY DROWNING. Invercavgill, Monday. J.dm Whelan. aged IS, was drowned ill Lake \Val;af.i|>u on Ssilimlav afternoon. While bagging coal on the wharf he fell into Hi'.' hike. His body has been recovered.
