The Ipswich Election
" AN HONEST DEFEAT OF THE GOVERNMENT." INSURANCE ACT THE MAIN FACTOR By Cable —Press Association —Copyright. Received 25 10.S0 p.m. London, 'May 25. . The Chronicle says that, the Ipswich eleetion result is an iionest defeat of the Government. It cioscly reproduces the details of the defeat at Reading, the only other genuine ilufcut in the past twelve months. Both fights turned almost entirely on the insurance Act. I The earner of under a pound a week is | finding the payment of iourpence a week excessive. One can sympathise with Mr. Masterman in his run of bad luck, but this one little bad feature of the Act has not been remedied by their pen-tie justice, and the Minister of Insurance is paying the penalty.
According to some Liberals, the Ipswich Laboritos were incensed at Mr. Asquitjh's and Mr. Lloyd George'® endorsing of Houston, and many voted for Ganzoni.
