HAMEL MISSING. MAKING A CROSS-CHANNEL FLIGHT By Cable—Press Association—Copyright London, May 24. Harnel, the ayiator, is missing. He loft Boulogne on Saturday afternoon. The engine was apparently unsatisfactory. Later there were vague reports that he had quitted Calais in a fog and with a strong westerly wind. He lias I crossed the Channel twenty times, but never in such conditions. Twelve British destroyers and two seaplanes vainly searched throughout to-day. It is hoped that some steamer has picked him up.
NO JvEWS OF HAMEL. Received 26, 11.5 pan. Paris, May 25. Hamel, flying on Saturday in his new Moraine-Sauluier monoplane, alighted near Boulogne, rested, replenished this oil supplies, and proceeded on his journey across the Channel. The machine was not fitted with floats.
A monoplane, supposed to be Hamel's, was subsequently seen passing Cape Grisnee,

| SMASHED IN A THUNDERSTORM. I Berlin, May 24. Lieuts. Breden and Bernhardt, while Hying at Wellendoof, were caught in a thunderstorm. The machine fell and they were killed.
