• Mr. Massey leavesi Gisborne for the south to-morrow.

Mrs. Firth is acting as temporary assistant at the Central school until Mr. Sullivan's successor arrives. Mr. G, F. Bertrand, of the staff of the West End school, has been appointed third assistant at the Central school.

Mr. R. Langinan, of Westown, who has been on a visit to Sydney, returned to New Plymouth on Tuesday morning. An engagement recently announced is that of Miss M. Rhodes, onlv daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. G. Rhodes, of Te KoraJia, Christchurcli, to captain Hutton, Welsh Fusiliers, A.D.C. to His Excellency the Governor. His Grace Archbishop Redwood leaves for Sydney en route to Rome on Friday by the Ulimaroa. At Sydney he will connect with the P. and 0. liner Maloja, leaving there on May 30, which will give His Grace an eleven days' stay in Sydney. Ife intends to return by way of Canada.
