DAMAGE REACHES 130,000
By Association. Napier, Last Night. Tlie estimated damage caused by last night's fire reached £30,000, but the exact details are not available. Williams and Kettle's total loss reaches approximately £16,500, being £15,000 for destroyed building and £ISOO for water damage in No. 1 store. The Shipping Company's loss is estimated to reach £7OOO on the building and plant. Tlie following are the insurances:—On Shipping Co.'s loss, Atlas, £650; Northem £500; Alliance £500; Royal Exchange (which office also carried a large cover on other owners' <tock sitorcd in the building), £500; North British Mercantile, £500; United, £1640. The Atlas Company also held a £1260 risk on De Pelichet and McLeod's stock, and the South British £BOO. M. F. Bourke was covered by £3600, but the office is xmknown. S. Wood, £3OOO in the British Dominions. All the above had wool and flax stored in the Shipping Co.'s store, all being destroyed. Dalgety's loss is estimated at £IOOO by water. Further insurances are unknown, but all the destroyed and damaged property was covered, every office being affected.
