GENERAL HAMILTON'S REPORT. TOE COST MOUNTING. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, May 12. General Hamilton's report on the military forces is now i n the hands of the Minister of Defence. It is limited to a few main questions, but deals exhaustively -with these. '
General Hamilton regards the army as a whole in a commendable state of efficiency and as able to take the field immediately. He indicates, however, the need of several changes in the administration and finance system, which should be overhauled.
General Hamilton's estimate of the future cost is far in exeess of Lord Kitchener's estimate.
