proposed purchase by the BOROUGH. > PRELIMINARY STEPS APPROVED. (From our Resident Reporter.) At the Borough Council meeting last night, Bhc mayor introduced his' proposals for the municipal acquisition of the Stratford Electrical Supply Co.'s undertaking. The proposals, brietly, were:—
A.4 a preliminary step to making an offer of purchase to the Electrical Supply Company. (1) That the consent of the company be obtained for a valuation of the company's plant to he made by a quali fled electrical engineer, to be appointed by the borough council. (2) That the council's valuer Ik' allied to advise the council as to any alteration in the company's system of generating electrical energy that may be advisable, anU what additions and alterations would be necessary to the plant, with the cost of same, to bring the plant up-to-date for the requirements of the town. (3) That an estimate be obtained of the cost of instituting a suitable new standardised plant to suit the borough, requirements. (4) That when the information is available and has been considered by the council, an offer be made\ to the company to purchase the undertaking; but that it be a condition precedent to such olfer being made that an agreement be arrived at between the council and the company on the question of goodwill. The motion brought down by His Worship was carried unanimously', and a committee was .set up to carry out its provisions.
