A fire early this morning did considerable damage m a ten-roomed house in Devon street, owned by Alex Jvie.th, of Mastcrtnn. and'occupied by Kenneth Keith. The building was insured for £73i>. The content* "ere iii.-ured for £l5O in the Kew Zealand Office. It is conjectured that tlie fii'c- may be the result of the gale that was Wowing last night. The family retired, leaving a fire burning in the dining-room grate, and it da surmised that a gust of wind down the chimney -i-atteivd e:nbcrs on to the mat.
