UXCOLX ROAD. (From Our Correspondent.) l.he neighbours and friends generally of Mr. .1. K. lioldt, senr., and Mr. 0. .\i Boldt, junr., assembled at their residence on Wednesday night to bid them farewell 011 the eve of their departure from the district. After various kinds 0! amusements had been indulged in. Mr. Walter .Matthews, in a capital speech, presented, on behalf of those assembled, Mr. lioldt, senr., with an armchair. and Mr. Otto lioldt with a travelling bag. Ml'. Mathews referred to Mr. lioldt, senr., as being one of the oldest settlers 111 the district, ami also to some pleasant past reminiscences. Both recipients were somewhat overcome at the warmth of the IVelui" towards them, and thanked their friends sincerely.

Oil l'riday .night the .School Committee and tellow settlers of Mr. P v . D, Harford (who has sold his farm and is leaving the district), and Mr. 0. M. lioldt tendered them a farewell social in tile school. Mr. F. Schwietery, chairman, referred to the occasion as an cxiraordinary one, as the two gentlemen they were bidding farewell to constituted almost the mainstay of the School Committee, being Chairman and Secretary respectively, lie had much pleasure in presenting Mr. Harford with a. treble silver flower vase, and Mr. lioldt with a travelling rug, oil behalf of their numerous friends, and wished them every success in their new sphere. Mr. Harford and Mr, lioldt replied in appropriate terms. Dancing was kept up till the early hours.
