the Board so far had not been able t» help them much. The showed a credit of £8 7-i and balance-sheet wena adopted. A motion was passed asking the Minister of Education to have the district extended so that the whole of the schools' in Taranaki could come under the control of the Taranaki 'Education Board. The head teacher's report stated that the number of children on the roll wad 86, but owing to sickness, whooping cough and colds about 40 were absent. The school had had an excellent year for passes, and she trusted to be 'able to ' continue with good results the school being among the first for goodi work in the Taranaki' district. Mr. Hughson brought up the matter of excessive punishment dealt to children. He detailed instances. He considered the punishment absolutely undeserved. A resolution of protest was carried. The election of committeemen resulted:—Messrs Neilson ir>. Wnrd 14, Chapman 12, ETughson 12,, Fielder 10, Annis 10, Fleming 0, Pemwird-.-n ft, Anglesen 7, Williamson 7. The firs, seven were elected.

At a subsequent meeting Mr. Cliap-' man was elected chairman'and Mr. F. Ward secretary.
