FRENCH ELECTIONS.
A CLEAR-CUT ISSUE. By Cable—Press Association- • Copyright 1 Paris, April 27. The general election has begun. There are three thousand candidates for 1102 seats. The election has resolved itself into a struggle between 11. Caulnux's clique and M. Briand's newly-formed federation the chief issues being three years' service, land and income tax, and electoral reforms. MM. Caillaux and Harthou have been re-elected. There are 545 results available. Tilers is little change in the strength of parti ;s. There are 225 second ballots necessary. The electorate approved the Military Service Bill.
