LONDON MARKETS. By Cable—Press 'Association—Copyright f London, April 26. Wheat.—Firm anti fair inquiry. Tie wheat and flour afloat for tn,e United Kingdom is 3,290,000 quarters, for the Continent 1,930,000 quarters; Atlantic shipments, 159,000 quarters, Pacific, 3000 quarters. The total to Europe is 1,245,000 quarters, including Australasia 280,000 quarter*. Copra.—Small business; South Sea bags spot £25 Is 6d, three months £26. Cotton.—April-May 6.9 d. Hemp.—Strong, high point fair April.fune, £26 10s. Rubber—Para 2s ll%d, plantation 2s 7y 4 d, smoked 2s 7%d. Tin.—Demoralised on heavy realisations, largely due to the financial position, arising out of the Mexican troubles, but good consumptive business is proceeding. Tin plates £6 14b. Fencing wire 1355, less 3 per cent. Angle Bteel 105s, less 2% per cent. Wire netting 02% per "cent, off list and ly t to 5 per cent, discount.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, April 27. Following is the High Commissioner's market report, under date London, April 25. (Note. —Quotations otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot): Mutton.—The market is becoming more depressed, on aecount of large arrivals. The demand has been chiefly for light weight. Canterbury 4%d per lb., heavy weights difficult to sell at 3%d. North Island, 4%d for light weight. Lamb.—Fair demand for better grades. The market has been unfavourably -if. fected by the lower prices of mutton. Canterbury Gy 4 d, heavy weights S'/jd, other than Canterbury 5 15-16 d for light weight.
Beef.—The market is very dull, and quotations nominal. Hinds 4%d, fores By-id. Supplies of American chillled beef arc large; chilled hinds 4%d, fores 3 5-16 d.
Butter.—Quiet and rather steadier. Danish, in fair demand, per cwt., 114s to 116s; New Zealand, fair de-
mand, 106s to 108s, unsalted 114s to USs; Australian, 100 a to 104s, exceptionally choice lOSs; Argentine, market slow at OSs to 1.025; Siberian, in poor demand, at 90s to 102s; American creameries, 98s to 100s.
Cheese—The market is firmer, with fair demand for New Zealand. The Canadian market is quiet; white, per ewt., 68s to 70s, colored 80s to 7ls; New Zealand, white 61s 6d to 625. colored 64s to 64s Gd; Australian, white 58s to 60s, colored 62s to 635.
Hemp—The market is excited on account of the Mexican crisis, and prices have been advancing rapidly. The Manila market is firmer, and shippers are holding off. Fair current £2B per ton, -May to July shipment £29. The output from Manila for the week was 20,000 bales. The New Zealand market is very firm. Business has been done in high points at £25 10s. To-day's value of June to July shipments is about £26 10s. Fair was sold at £24 Ills during this week, but is now at £25 10s. Oood-fair is nominally £27 per ton. with n«j sellers.
Nisal.—Landed sisal i.s nominally uncliungcd, hut no offers are obtainable .rorn Mexico, as it appears probable the war is likely to prevent the shipment ol stocks. At Progreso, at the end of March, 1914. there were 01,334 hales, against 112,265 bales last year. Shipments during March, 1914,' were 113,770 bales, against '43.370 in March, 1913.
Tow—The market is firmer. Spot Hales this wei'k include third grade, at .UIS ]M ton, second grade at £l4. Wool—The market is linn, with a hardening tendency for merinos and line crosshreds of all grades. Prospects are favorable.
Hops.—The market is steady, with improved demand. English, per ewt., 120s to TjOs; Continental, 10ft* to iOflsCalifornhiji, 80b to 110s.
