THE PANAMA ROUTE.

NOT WANTED BY MEAT CARRIERS. —■ i By Cable—Press Association —Copyright

Received 22, 8.30 p.m. Lonuon, April 22.

Shipowners engaged in the frozen meat trade announce that they prefer the colder route via Oape Horn to the Panama Canal, which is a hot-water route, forcing the refrigerating machines to work longer. When the water is at 84 degrees, the machines work from twelve to fifteen hours daily, but when at 57 degrees, nine hours suffice.
