After much acrimonious debate, the banquet committee arranged to sing the National Anthem first, then give the Pope's health, omitting the King's health. However, none of those mentioned attended, except the Mayor of Winnipeg. Archbishop Lrngevin, in proposing the Pope's health, declared that the Papacy was the most sublime majesty in the world, for the Pope represented .fesus Christ. Archbishop Langeviu. interviewed, declared that the Pope was the first authority iu the world: lie was then loyal to the King.
